Virgo is Latin for Virgin, and the constellation of Virgo lies between Leo and Libra. It is the second largest constellation after Hydra, and its brightest star is Spica. In the Northern hemisphere Virgo appears during Spring and Summer, and in the Southern hemisphere in Autumn and Winter, and is tied to fertility and growing crops. Virgo is also the birth sign for people born between August 23 to September 22. Virgo is such a large constellation that when the Sun passes in front of it each year, it takes up to a month to pass, from September 16 to October 30.
