In Greek times, when Hercules was fighting the many-headed Hydra, a crab appeared, sent by the goddess, Hera. The crab bit Hercule’s foot, however, Hercules crushed it to pieces. Then the goddess Hera placed the crab along the stars as a reward for its faithful service and made Hercules her sworn enemy.
